The odd jobs other printers turn away

A 40cm square chess board on card. A banner for a 90th birthday by Saturday. Place cards die-cut around a dog's face. The jobs that make online printers' websites give up are the ones we enjoy.

Same-day quote

Every unusual job is priced on what it actually takes. Describe it and we will quote the same day.

Tell us what you need and we will price it the same day.

Free artwork check on every order. We confirm with you before we print.
Sending files: attach them above, or paste a Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or WeTransfer link. If the file is too big for the form, email it to info@walthamprint.co.uk and we will pick it up from there. Please send the original file rather than a screenshot or a photo of it, because we print from whatever you send us.

Describe what you are trying to make, even roughly, and we will work out how to print it, what to print it on, and what it will cost. If we genuinely cannot do it, we will tell you who can.

What we cover

What custom actually means here

This page exists because the other pages have prices in boxes, and boxes cannot describe everything. If what you want does not fit one of them, it fits here.

Custom sizes. We cut to size in house, so a print does not have to be an A size. Square, long and thin, oversized, or a specific measurement someone gave you: send the dimensions in millimetres and we will price it.

Unusual materials. Papers, cards, board, PVC and Foamex, plus translucent backlit vinyl for illuminated signs, lightboxes and display fridges. If you tell us what the thing is for, where it is going to live and how long it needs to last, we will pick the material with you rather than making you choose from a list you cannot feel.

Shapes and finishing. Rounded corners, drilled holes, mounting on board, lamination and folding. Cutting around a shape rather than a rectangle is a common ask and usually possible, though a fully bespoke cutting blade for your own outline only makes sense at higher quantities, and we will tell you honestly where that line sits.

Branded items beyond paper. Lanyards, name badges, notebooks and pens for conferences and events, quoted per job with your logos applied.

Framing. We stock frames and can supply a print finished and ready to hang rather than loose.

One offs. A single item is fine. Our £25 minimum spend on print jobs applies, but within that we will make one thing properly rather than telling you to order 250.

Reproducing something that already exists. If you have an old printed item you need more of, such as a form, a sign, a card or a label, bring it in. We will scan it, re-set it if needed, and match the stock as closely as we can.

The products we retired from the price list. Greeting cards, calendars, brochures, envelopes, swing tags, menus, compliment slips, presentation folders and canvas prints all came off the online pricing because they varied too much to price in a box. We still print all of them, so ask and we will quote the same day.

How to ask

What you get back, and how fast

You do not need a spec. Most of the interesting jobs start with someone describing a thing they can picture and cannot name.

Useful to include if you have it: roughly what size, how many, where it is going to live, whether indoors, outdoors, handled or posted, when you need it, and whether you have artwork. If you have a photo of something similar, that is worth more than a paragraph of description, and emailing one to info@walthamprint.co.uk is the quickest way to send it.

What you will get back, the same day: whether we can do it, what we would make it from, what it will cost, and how long it will take. If it is a bad idea we will say so and suggest the better version. If it is genuinely not something we can do well, we will tell you who can, because there are jobs that belong with a specialist and we would rather send you there than do a mediocre version.

That last part is the actual point of this page. Most print goes wrong because someone ordered the wrong thing confidently instead of asking.

Where the answer is usually one of our standard products: anything flat and large is normally posters, anything rigid and outdoors is Foamex, anything flexible and outdoors is a PVC banner, and anything with a file problem starts at artwork editing. If your job is one of those, you will get a straight answer and a standard price.

Call 020 8520 0996 or 07391 970040, or send the details through the form. Same day answer, always.

Questions about custom sizes & unusual jobs

Can you print one of something?

Yes, one-offs are fine. The £25 minimum spend for print jobs applies, but within that we will make a single piece properly.

I do not know what material I need.

That is normal. Tell us what the thing is for, where it will live and how long it needs to last, and we will choose the material with you.

Can you copy an existing printed item?

Usually, if it is yours to reproduce. Bring it in, we will scan or re-set it and match the stock as closely as possible.

Is there anything you will not print?

Anything we cannot do to a standard we would put our name on, and anything we do not have the rights to reproduce. In both cases we will tell you why and point you somewhere better.

Can you match an existing item exactly?

Close, usually. Send or bring the original and we will match stock, size and colour as closely as the materials allow, and we will be honest about where an exact match is not possible.

What is the smallest job you will take?

There is a £25 minimum spend on print jobs and £15 on document printing. Within that, quantity is up to you.

How fast can you turn something unusual around?

Many custom jobs are same day when booked before 12pm. Anything needing an unusual material or an extra finishing step is typically 3 to 4 working days, and we will tell you the honest date when we quote.

Can you deliver or post it?

Yes. Postage is typically £10 and arrives in one to two days, and for larger or urgent jobs we book a courier and send you tracking.
