Postcards and invitation cards on proper card

This is the one decision that changes how a postcard feels, and it is worth thirty seconds of thought.

350gsm silk has a slight sheen. Colours sit brighter on it, photographs look richer, and it is the better choice if the card is doing a selling job: a promo card, an artist's print card, something in a shop window. The downside is that a biro skates on it. You can write on silk with a fine permanent pen, but not comfortably with a standard pen.

350gsm matte is uncoated and takes ink like paper, because it more or less is. Write on it, stamp it, address it, post it. Colours sit very slightly softer, which for a lot of designs reads as more expensive rather than less. If it is a genuine postcard, a save the date going in the post, or an invitation someone will write a name on, this is the one.

Bought a design on Etsy? That is a very common job for us. Send the PDF exactly as you downloaded it and we will verify the size, bleed and resolution before anything runs. Etsy templates are often built to US sizes, so an "A6" from an American seller is frequently 4 x 6 inches, which is 1mm narrower and 4mm shorter than a true A6. We resize properly rather than stretching, and if it needs more than a straight resize we quote it first.

Artists and makers print packs of their work to sell at fairs and on Etsy at a price point people buy on impulse. We colour check these the same way we check art prints, because a postcard of a painting has the same job as a print of it, just smaller. Short runs are fine, so print what you will sell rather than what fills a shelf.

Businesses use A6 cards as a smaller, cheaper flyer that survives being carried around. Cafes stack them by the till and salons put them in bags, and the 350gsm card means they do not crumple in a pocket like a 130gsm flyer would.

Same day is available on all of it when you book before 12pm. The 3 to 4 day price is meaningfully cheaper, at £55 per 100 for A6 rather than £75, so if the date is not tight, take the slower option.
